Grace Dowdy, MSW | Community Reentry Advocate | LCSW Supervisee

About Grace:

My name is Grace and I am a Community Reentry Advocate here at OAR of Richmond. I’ve been doing this work for just over three years. I first became interested in reentry work when I was getting my bachelor’s degree in Social Work at VCU. Like many others, I could tell America’s criminal legal system was botched. Usually, it left folks much worse off than before, and it unjustly targeted disproportionate groups of people.

When I got my Master of Social Work, also at VCU, I continued to specialize in reentry and was able to score an internship at OAR - thankfully they hired me on. Now, I’m being supervised to get my LCSW and I hope to continue to focus on assisting folks in and around this system. I feel very grateful I am able to help people for a living.

Outside of work, I like to spend time with my friends and family, read books, and watch scary movies.
