Everything You Need to Know:
-
OAR of Richmond's Adopt-A-Family program supports children and caregivers who have a loved one currently incarcerated. The program helps provide holiday gifts and grocery assistance to families impacted by incarceration.
-
There are several ways to participate! You can adopt an entire family, purchase individual gifts, shop from our Amazon Wish List, or donate a $50 grocery gift card.
-
Absolutely not! We welcome individual donors who would like to purchase one or more gifts. Every contribution helps make the holidays brighter for a participating family.
-
Yes! We welcome businesses, churches, civic groups, schools, and other community organizations to participate. Group adoptions are a wonderful way to bring people together around a shared purpose.
-
Once you express interest in participating, OAR will provide information about the family or individual gift opportunities available, including children's ages, requested items, and other relevant details.
-
Yes! OAR will provide an Amazon Wish List with requested items. You can select and purchase gifts directly through the list.
-
Yes! We especially encourage donors to consider gifts for teenagers ages 11–17. Older children are sometimes overlooked during holiday giving campaigns, and we want to ensure they receive gifts that make them feel included.
-
Yes. OAR is also working to provide each participating family with a $50 grocery gift card to help offset holiday grocery expenses.
-
Physical gifts should be dropped off at OAR of Richmond (809 W. Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23220). Once your participation is confirmed, we will provide the office address, drop-off hours, and any labeling instructions.
