Second Chance Project Coach
We are currently looking for
dependable and resourceful people who are interested in becoming Second
Chance Coaches. Coaches will assist program participants to successfully
transition from prison back into the community, help strengthen the
participants’ ability to overcome adverse situations, avoid recidivism, and
become productive members of society. Coaches must be 21 years of age or
older, able to model the qualities of a healthy relationship, and be able to
relate to individuals with a variety of cultural and socioeconomic
backgrounds in a nonjudgmental way. If you are interested in the Second

Coordinator.
Alcoholics Anonymous / Narcotics Anonymous (weekly meetings)
Bring a 12-step meeting to clients who are seeking the process of recovery from drugs and alcohol so their return into the community is a successful one.
Impact of Crime on Victims Class (11-week Program)
Educate offenders on the impact that crime has on victims, families, and communities by teaching a series of classes using a structured curriculum. Class involves varied forms of media and victims of crime as guest speakers.
Parenting Education Group (8-week Program)
Provide group support for incarcerated parents while they are separated from their children. The program's goal is to help maintain their relationships with their children and caregivers and to improve parenting skills and goal setting.
Responsibilities of Fatherhood (6-week Program)
Help inmates learn the financial and emotional responsibility of fatherhood, encourage their involvement in their children's lives, develop effective communication skills and assist them in building skills needed to sustain involvement in their children's lives.
Male Responsibility (10-week
Program)
Teach male clients how to develop healthy attitudes and behaviors regarding
relationships, marriage, employment, and family.
Anger Management (8-week Program)
Help clients explore the nature and impact of anger in order to establish a
life free of violence.
Life Without A Crutch (8-week
Program)
Educate students on different types of addiction and how to begin to recover
from them.
Productive Citizenship: A Vision Beyond Survival (6-week program)
Prepare clients for their release by discussing topics such as available community resources, support systems, life skills, housing, employment, successful budgeting and financial planning.
Healthy Relationships (8-week program)
Educate participants on the serious problem of domestic violence, identify and describe the different types of abuse and develop an understanding of the cycle of violence. Address alternatives to and prevention of violence, as well as legal remedies and sources of help in the community.
One-to-One Mentors (Regularly Scheduled Visits)
Establish a constructive one-to-one relationship with an OAR client to discuss the challenges they face in life and to encourage a positive transition from jail into the community.
GED Instructors/Tutors (Regularly Scheduled Visits)
Assist an incarcerated or released adult learner in improving his/her reading and writing abilities.
Introduction to Computers Class
Instruct clients in PC usage, including basic keyboarding skills, thereby increasing their exposure and employment options.
Resume Workshop
Assist clients as they develop resumes for employment.
Job Club
Assist clients to obtain or maintain employment by facilitating weekly
sessions to address appropriate work behaviors, attitudes, and coping skills
needed for successful employment retention.
Mock Interviews
Conduct mock interviews with clients in our Central Office to help evaluate their interviewing skills.
Hairstylist/Barber
Provide pro bono hair cuts at your barber shop or beauty salon for clients
seeking employment.
Adopt-A-Client's Family for Christmas (During the Holiday season)
Sponsor OAR families by donating food, clothing, shoes, coats toys, or other gifts. OAR. OAR can assist in the selection and delivery of goods.
