A New Direction (AND) Program

OAR and numerous community partner organizations are collaborating to offer a comprehensive, supportive program for female prostitutes.  The goal of the AND Program is to provide rehabilitative services to female sex workers in order to help them transition out of the lifestyle.

In order to receive services through the AND Program, women must have participated in prostitution and have an adult criminal conviction. Walk-in services are available at OAR’s Central Office location at One North Third Street. In-Jail Services are available through the OAR case manager at the Richmond City Jail.

In addition to the pre-release (in-jail) services and the post-release services components, the program includes a court-ordered diversion program for females arrested in the city of Richmond who may be determined eligible for diversion and local probation supervision by the Richmond Commonwealth's Attorney's staff and the presiding judge.
